Recipe: Cucumber Lemon Detox Water

Happy Monday!

Most people hate Mondays, but I am one of those weird people that really likes them because it’s a fresh start to a new week and a new chance to get ahead! I am also one of those crazy “I can only start new things on Monday” type of people, LOL. What about you? What are YOUR thoughts on Mondays?

Since it is a new week and a chance to start something fresh, I thought I’d share with you one of my favorite detox waters that I drink regularly. [I also thought it would be a nice treat for you other ‘I’ll start on Monday’-type peeps who are starting a new lifestyle today ;)]

This water is not only AMAZING for you, but it also tastes delicious! One of my biggest obstacles with a healthy lifestyle is drinking water…I hate it. I don’t know why, it just never has been my drink of choice. BUT when you throw some lemon and cucs in the mix, I am allllll in. The lemon helps to cleanse and alkalize the body, and it is great for the liver [aka – my hangover cure] and the cucumber provides an anti-inflammatory properties for your body and adds extra hydration!  Yummm-O.

So there isn’t any specific recipe for this detoxing water. I recommend filling a big pitcher with water, squeeze juice from 1/2 a lemon and add about 4 thin slices of lemon (more or less depending on your love of lemon). Next, peel and slice about 1/2 a cucumber (again, more or less depending on your preference), throw it in and BAM! Simple, easy, delicious and healthy detoxing water!

Just like my Healthy Green Smoothie, you can add any type of fruit that would like to your water! I’ve also heard adding mint to this water helps settle upset stomachs and adds a great touch!

Thirsty, hungover, bored with water? Try this and let me know what you think!

  1. Mint is definitely a great option – I have to make another batch of cucumber water this weekend and will add lemon! I have a hard time consuming water as well. Have a great one Emily! -Iva
